Less than 2 days to go..
5 hours ago, this blog post started off very different.
There I was, out the front of the Perth Convention centre filming a teaser for the GO3 Expo when a rather plump guy in a suit came up to me and told me to stop filming.
No explanation was given, I was just told to run along.
So I decided to go down the road and film a wide shot but the wind kicked up and ruined the sound.
I packed up, headed up to Kings Park and decided to set up there. The Convention Centre in the background and an attractive young man in the foreground - this was going to be Citizen Video Journalism at it’s best.
But suddenly the lights went out and I found myself standing in the twilight with a bunch of Japanese tourists giggling to themselves whilst pointing at me.
Not willing to give up, I jumped in the car and went off to the city center but after I parked and took 2 steps out of the car, the camera beeped at me signaling that the batteries had died.
Ugh!
So here I am, in the confines of my bedroom, typing up a boring old blog post.
But y’know what? It doesn’t matter.
Because GO3 is going to absofreakinluely rock.
For two days, the Perth Convention Centre is going to be home to the biggest electronics expo in Australia. There is going to be a massive LAN party set up in one of the pavilions and the rest of the centre will be choc-full of delicious electronic entertainmenty goodness. The DDR and cosplay competitions will be a hoot and the electronic sports world up qualifier will be a marvel to witness.
Like most exhibitions like this, there will be heaps of free junk to be thrown at you - and with the power of an all-access press pass, exhibitors are more likely to shower me with goodies in an attempt at getting free pimpage. Ahh, I do love my free stuff.
Aside from all the festivities, the gamer in me is screaming for the chance to get my grubby little hands on a PS3 (since I doubt I’ll ever afford it’s exorbitant price tag) as well as be one of the few to test out a few up-n-coming games such as World in Conflict, Strangehold, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Bioshock for the 360.
The Norg will be there spreading their Norgy goodness to one and all, as well as covering the event through this blog. We will also be podcasting the expo as well as grabbing a few interviews during the weekend (as long as the evil camera leprechauns don’t try and attack me again).
In true electronic expo tradition (much like SXSW), we will be twittering to our hearts content. Why not join us and catch every single tweet at: http://twitter.com/go3
This is an event NOT to be missed by anyone who loves their games and electronic goodies.
I hope to see you there!
