Interzone on the look out - is gaming your thing?
The first big announcement her at GO3 was that Interzone is establishing a Games Centre here in Perth. But most in the audience knew that in December.
But Minister for Industry and Enterprise Francis Logan said this morning that the WA government is putting in $5 million to develop the centre.
Interzone has been already recruiting and has a team of about 17 employees so far, but they are actively on the look out for developers, designers and animators to expand that number to 300. That’s a lot of opportunity for would-be game developers here in Perth.
Interzone MD Robert Spencer said they would be working with local universities to develop courses and training so that graduates here are able to well equipped to work in the industry.
Interzone is currently operating in stealth mode, but I’ll try and catch up with some of the team later to get some more info.
The announcement might not be fresh, but it’s still an exciting development for the local gaming industry.
